Behind this enchanted facade, it’s a disillusioned criticism ot the destruction of the medieval Paris in the XIXth century by the urbanization policy of Napoléon III and Baron haussmann who transformed this city into long and boring avenues. With its turret of the XVIth century, it was the presbytery of the church St-Germain the Auxerrois. Contemporary graffiti, posters, snails from a restaurant sign, a pensive Jane Birkin, a smoke canister like a cry for help give the impression that this Howl’s Moving Castle has traveled in a time machine.
